Verizon 4G LTE Review

4G LTE refers to 4th Generation Long-Term Evolution Network, and is available through many mobile providers, including Verizon and AT&T. If you are considering upgrading your mobile plan to 4G LTE for your smartphone, tablet, or mobile broadband card, read this review to learn more about what Verizon 4G LTE has to offer customers.

Verizon 4G LTE Coverage Area

As of April 2012, Verizon 4G LTE coverage is only available in 230 cities across the United States. This coverage allows 200 million customers to be served, and is more widely available than the same coverage from other carriers, including Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. If you live in an area where the 4G coverage is not available, you will remain on the 3G Network, and will not benefit from upgrading to the coverage. Current and prospective Verizon customers can find out if they are covered by visiting the Verizon 4G LTE coverage map.

Verizon 4G LTE Pricing

As of April 2012, Verizon Wireless is offering 4 GB of data for $30/month. This is double the data for the same price, as customers used to only receive 2 GB of data for that price. Additional data may be available for a fee. This applies to 2 year contracts. Pricing may vary if you sign a one-year contract, or elect for a month-to-month service option.

Will 4G LTE Work on All Devices?

The short answer is no. For your device to benefit from 4G LTE service, it must be compatible with it. The newer smartphones, tablets, and mobile broadband cards are built to support this technology. If your current device does not support it, upgrading to the service will not offer any additional benefits. As of April 2012, the following Verizon devices support 4G LTE service:
